FAQ's

1. Who can audition?

Dancers aged 5-18. We are looking for commitment, enthusiasm, and performance potential - not just technical ability.
2. Do dancers need to be able to perform all styles?
No. Dancers do not need experience in every style. Choreography will allow dancers to grow and gain confidence across multiple disciplines however, if there is a style a dancer is not comfortable with then we will place them in a different routine instead.
3. When are rehearsals?
Rehearsals take place on Sundays during the Autumn term (September - December). Depending on age and the role, rehearsals will be between 2 and 6 hours.
There will also be an October half term intensive midway through the term.
4. Will this interfere with my classes at another dance school?
This is an exclusive company, not a dance school so SDC members are able attend other dance classes throughout the week.
Rehearsals are scheduled on Sundays and during October half term to minimise disruption. We have designed the company to work along-side your weekly training, no matter what dance school you attend.

This season’s production will be running in the Autumn term, including October half term, and performed at Christmas.

5. What is the October half term intensive?
The October half term intensive runs for 5 days with 5 - 7 hours of training per day (timings dependant on age and role). This allows us to make strong progress on choreography and technique while providing structured, supervised childcare during half term.
6. When and where is the performance?
These details are TBC but The Nutcracker will be performed in December at a professional theatre in Surrey.
It will not be during school hours.
7. What is included in the fees?

•12x Weekly rehearsals. 2-6 hours per day
•October half term intensive. 5 days, 5-7 hours per day
•Professional theatre performance
•All costumes
•Professional chaperones
8. How much does it cost?
A cost breakdown will be sent once the audition form is filled in. If successful, a non-refundable deposit will need to be paid to secure your place and the remaining fees can be paid at a later date.
We keep costs to a minimum to allow as many children as possible, the opportunity to be a part of Surrey Dance Company.
All students will be getting the same training and opportunities so sibling discounts are not available.
9. Is attendance compulsory?
Yes. As this is a company and full production, regular attendance is essential, especially during the half term intensive and show weekend.
